Tikkun HaYam - Repair the Sea is the only 501(c)(3) organization focusing on aquatic restoration from a Jewish perspective. Reverse Tashlich is an international Jewish community waterfront cleanup that occurs during the High Holidays. Across the world, we collaboratively raise our awareness, clean our local environment, and repair the world as we enter the new year. Every year, approximately eight million tons of human-made waste enter the water, posing health and safety hazards to aquatic animals, and humans. A healthy ocean is imperative in maintaining a healthy climate and planet.
Pollution is also a blatant violation of the fundamental ethical Jewish principle Bal Tashchit. Today there are 239 Reverse Tashlich communities in 19 countries, and more locations are still being added.
